Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

I think the game consoles market its going to end in the upcoming years because people are looking for more fun and easy games to play instead of the difficult, not so fun and expensive games that game consoles currently offer. Big game developers are finding out that gamers want more free games to play instead of having to buy the material game, games in the near future may be created by all kinds of creative game developers, people that want to create games to entertain gamers right where they are at instead of having people going to their houses so they can play on their consoles, in these days people are rarely home because everybody are too busy doing things all day long.
Star: Streaming video games
The number of gamers keeps increasing and now they are exploring different platforms because they dont really have the time to go and play with their consoles any more, most people have their consoles sitting at home but they just don't use them as much as they used to.(CNN.com)
Question mark: Wii u
big game developers are getting to a point where they are going to have to stop fabricating game consoles as we currently know, the upcoming versions of the new Wii u, and play station 4 could be the last versions before the industry steps into a whole different concept of video games.
Cash cow: X box, Play station
Game consoles are not helping the gaming industry anymore because most people aren't using the consoles to play video games, but to stream online programming from Netflix or YouTube (CNN.com).
Dog:  Play station,video games
Most people in these days are realizing that paying 50 or 60 dollars for a game its not the best deal so they are starting to look for different options and one example are the social games ( farm vile, angry birds, mafia wars...) are the kind of games people are playing now days. Look at the number of free or cheap homemade games available in the mobile market today and you will have an ides where future games my be heading. (hongkiat.com).
